Crypto Whale Alert: Metaplanet Scoops Up $43M in Bitcoin During Price Dip
Metaplanet has once again demonstrated its strategic approach to Bitcoin acquisition, purchasing 497 BTC worth $43.3 million at what many would consider a bargain price point of $88,448 per coin.
This latest purchase, announced Wednesday by CEO Simon Gerovich on X, brings the Tokyo-listed company’s total Bitcoin holdings to an impressive 2,888 BTC. The firm has now invested approximately 36.444 billion yen ($240 million) in Bitcoin, with an average purchase price of $83,172 per coin.
This acquisition follows a similar move just days earlier when Metaplanet purchased 156 BTC as the cryptocurrency’s price retreated to around $87,000, pulling back from recent gains. At the time of reporting, Bitcoin was trading at approximately $87,200.
The pattern of accumulation during price dips suggests Metaplanet is implementing a deliberate strategy of building its Bitcoin reserves during market pullbacks, positioning itself as a significant corporate holder of the world’s leading cryptocurrency.
